Accessibility in the community begins not only with public spaces or central streets, but primarily with places that people see and need every day - their own yards and adjacent territories. This is where the quality of life everywhere is formed, the ability to move safely and feel part of a common space.
Due to the full-scale war, the need for a barrier-free environment has significantly increased. Veterans and veterans, civilians with injuries, people with disabilities, elderly residents, parents with strollers and other low-mobility population groups who face obstacles in their own yards - high curbs, difficult stairs, lack of handrails or safe traffic routes.
To support the development of an accessible environment in the Vinnytsia community, the Public Foundation "Podilska Hromada" announced a citizens' competition for the "Accessible Yards" condominium.
The competition plans to support 10 projects. The maximum funding for one project is 46,100 hryvnias.
The competition is aimed at supporting practical solutions that will completely eliminate obstacles in the surrounding areas and make yards safer and more accessible for all residents.
Possible solutions include:
• installing lower curbs;
• installing handrails;
• improving access to entrances;
• establishing safe travel routes;
• other solutions that contribute to barrier-free and accessible space.
The following are invited to participate in the competition:
• officially registered condominium associations operating in the territory of Vinnytsia city territorial community and ready to implement practical solutions to improve the accessibility of the surrounding area.
A competition for the educational component is being held with independent financial support. Seminars on accessibility and ethical communication with people with disabilities will be held for condominium representatives.
In partnership with the Department of Housing Association Development of the Vinnytsia City Council, together with Lyudmila Netska — the head of the NGO "Harmony" and an accessibility expert — participants talk about the principles of barrier-free living, ethical interaction and look for practical solutions for their own yards.

The competition involves several stages: collection of applications, determination of winners, signing of contracts, implementation of projects, monitoring and final reporting.

Please note! Grant funds cannot be used for wages or payment for work performed. Work performed on the site is property outside the association of co-owners of apartment buildings (both financially and materially).

• seminars on accessibility and ethical communication: 06/02/2026 and 06/10/2026;
• determination of winners: 06/30/2026 – 07/07/2026;
• signing of contracts: 07/08/2026 – 07/15/2026;
• implementation of projects by winners: 07/15/2026 – 10/15/2026;
• visiting regional territories and installing information signs: 10/15/2026 – 10/25/2026;
• reporting of competition winners: by 10/30/2026.
Criteria for selecting winners:
- compliance with the objectives of the mini-grant competition;
- motivation to participate;
- clarity and logic of the proposed idea;
- justification of the budget;
- practicality and realism of the expected results.
